National Payments Corporation of India has designed its entire environment with security agents and controls at system and at network layer. By segmenting the network and isolating the user network segment from network, NPCI assures the isolation and no direct access from user segment on its production servers. Several projects have been deployed on endpoints and the network hopes in between to block anything suspicious or what is not applicable. The organization has also deployed controls on other parts on infrastructure, like file-sharing, information classification, email infrastructure, mobile devices, to protect them from any malicious activities and prevent data loss. NPCI has also deployed network monitoring solution to capture and analyze the suspicious traffic in the network. These include any known IOCs of malware, internal network scans and attempts of lateral movement. The aim is to not only find and defeat attackers, but also to triangulate and eliminate internal threats.
